Won the Gold at Readers’ Favorite!!!

Last week while I was enjoying my time on our mini family vacation in Canada, I got the notification that I had won the Gold Medal for YA Horror at Readers’ Favorite 2016 competition!! Wooo hoo!!! Exciting times indeed.

Planning on attending the award ceremony and the book fair in Miami in November!  I’m so excited as this is my first time winning an award for my debut novel!  It would be great to meet other writers at this event and learn from the masters!

Crazy times!

Can’t believe that it’s been almost a year since I released my debut novel, In the Eyes of Madness. This past year just zoomed by. Between work and home life, volunteer work at PMI and at church, promoting the book, working on writing new books, I haven’t really had a chance to simply take a breath. Not sure how some authors have the ability to push out a book or two every year and still have a balanced work life. Maybe I’m just a little too ambitious…

I’m currently working on three different book series…

I’m still working on book 2 of the Declan Peters Chronicles. Working title is In the Heart of Truth. This book will reveal many secrets as to who Declan really is an why he seem to have such abilities. But didn’t I already reveal that he’s P-born in book one??? Yes! But he’s so much more…

A second book series that I’m currently working on is about the Hunters. Yes, I know. I mentioned the hunters briefly in my debut novel, and at the end you found out that there might be something linking Declan’s mother and the Hunters, well….you won’t find that link is in the first book of this new series (you just might in book 2 of the Declan Peters Chronicles), but Declan will make an appearance! Throughout this series, Declan, and the main character of this Hunters series, Adam, will cross paths many times.

And as for my last book series, it will be an origins series. This series explores the origin of the demons starting with the first Nephilim. How does the world get from one Nephilim, to a point where they becoming a civilization so corrupt that God is willing to wipe out most of the world to eliminate?

Yes, all three stories are tightly wound together. Characters will invade one another’s stories. CRAZY Right?!

Here’s some exciting news about In the Eyes of Madness…

The book has been slowly climbing the Amazon’s bestsellers ranks in multiple categories.

That’s right, currently #2 Christian Fantasy on Amazon!  Wooohooo!!

#84 on Paranormal and Urban books on Amazon and #90 on Paranormal and Urban Kindle Books!  ==>  Not too shabby considering the volume of books in this genre for a debut novel!

Here’s where I need your help!  Let your friends know about the book and a review would be nice!!  🙂  Help spread the word and get Declan to the number one spot!!

Also, I recently did a free day promo on my book and the results were ridiculous!!

That’s right!  During the promo period, In the Eyes of Madness, was the #1 Amazon bestseller in 3 categories and the overall #10 most downloaded free book at (17,000 downloads during that day).  Now if only, these rankings were on normal days and not a free day and we’d be golden!!

The Road So Far…

It’s been almost 4 months since I’ve released by debut novel, In The Eyes Of Madness.  I thought that the work for a book was over after it gets published.  That did not seem the case.  I feel that there actually more work to promoting a book than to simply sit down and write it.  I’m not complaining.  It’s actually been a very interested experience and quite fun.  The response to the book has been pretty good so far.  Unfortunately, I don’t think my editor did a very good job with editing the book because I’ve gotten some comments about typos.

Oh well, last month I had the book proofread again and re-released it.  Hopefully, all the mistakes have been caught.  Despite that, here’s what a few reviewers are saying about the book…

” I look forward to reading more of the writer’s highly addictive writing style. I predict this book will be met with award winning honors.” – Suzie Housley, Midwest Reviewer (June 2015 issue)

“The journey that results will inject ‘rehab’ with an entirely new interpretation that skirts the boundaries of reality and supernatural worlds in a tense saga that’s engrossing and hard to put down.” – Diane Donovan, Senior Reviewer at Midwest Review (July 2015 issue)

“An engaging world of adventure, suspense, and intrigue that will captivate readers from everywhere.” – Danielle Urban, Reviewer of Universal Creativity EZine (June 2015 issue)

“It’s a fun ride to go on with him. It’s exciting, and interesting.” – Paij Slater, Book Reviewer

“The feeling of dark evil comes alive as the tale begins to heave in deep breaths, unsettling and brilliant in its execution by the author.” –  Dii (Amazon Top 500 Reviewer)

All in all, not too bad for a couple months!  My only question now is, where do authors find the time to continue writing while spending so much time promoting their books??

Coming in a few weeks, a poll for the title of the next book.  Stay tuned!

Book Release

I can’t believe that I’m finally doing it! I’ve been working on this book for almost four years now. It’s great to finally feel good enough about the novel to publish it. I must have written and re-written parts of the novel over a hundred times. I’m grateful that I had a very supportive brother who was willing to read and re-read the different drafts that I’ve had over the past couple of years. And of course, my very supportive wife who kept encouraging me to write and re-write over the years.

The idea for the novel came to me in a dream one night. I was surprised to be able to get into a deep enough sleep to dream. We (my wife and I) were new parents and our newborn was only a couple months old. What that meant was that we barely slept! So, it was kind of a miracle for me to even have such a vivid and amazing dream (or nightmare, I couldn’t really decide). When I woke from it, I tried going back to sleep, but it was no use. I couldn’t get the dream to continue. In the morning, I told my wife all about the dream and we decided that it made a good book idea. I was desperate to find out what happens in the end, but since I couldn’t get the dream to continue, I decided that I’d just have to write the rest of it myself.

After countless hours of working on developing the plot and the characters, I finally felt that I had a good start of an epic adventure. So after several more months of iterations with an editor and book designers, I have a final product. I hope you all like book one.

I only have a basic outline of the book series, but I am now starting to create a detailed outline of book two. I will keep you updated as that further develops!
